Is it a PRAYER Problem or a PRAISE Problem?
Have you subscribed to my YouTube channel yet?
Ever feel like you're in the thick of the battle...praying your guts out yet not seeming to find any relief? Gosh, I've SO been there! Many times....
May I suggest that it may be a shift of focus from prayer to PRAISE...
Sing for Joy
Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth; Break forth and sing for joy and sing praises. Psalm 98:4 (NASB)
Turn your prayers into praise and watch how things begin to shift! Peace and relief are on the way when you turn your prayers into praise...
Instead, glorify his mighty works, singing songs of praise (Job 36:24)
Dance
For real. Try it. Crank up some music and just go all out in worship. I assure you, it will be nearly impossible to stay down when your arms are raised and you’re dancing before your King!
The young women will dance for joy, and the men- old and young-will join in the celebration. I will turn their mourning into joy. I will comfort them and exchange their sorrow for rejoicing. - Jeremiah 31:13)
And for you research nerds like me, here's an awesome article I found from Harvard Neuroscience Institute's article "Dancing and the Brain." . Check it out!
Take a trip down memory lane
Look at your HIStory...(His-Story at work in you!) He has never left you! Meditate on your HIStory and recall all the times you felt downright down and out in despair or depression and remember how He brought you out. Start THANKING Him for His provision, deliverance, healing, breakthrough and peace you have experienced before and believe He's at work now on your behalf. Don't let the devil deceive you into believing you're outside His grace. Refute those lies and begin decreeing and declaring with your God-given authority with boldness and audacity!
I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need. - Luke 11:8 NIV
God will not violate His own promises.
Seek the Lord in prayer and ask God to help you recall promises in His Word that are specific to your need. If you are new to the bible, that's okay! My favorite tool is the YouVersion Bible App and Connect with me on there! --You'll get to see my raw, real, unfiltered study notes and highlights and join me in some amazing daily devotionals! Use the search and type in a keyword relative to your request (examples: healing, relationships, wisdom, breakthrough) and find verses that resonate with you.
Pray scriptures over yourself
Write them down and put them in plain view. Stop and reflect regularly to get out of the spin and find rest in Him.
Make it personal. Claim the promises by shifting to a personal pronoun. (See what I mean in the bold words below.)
Here are some beautiful blanket promises to get you started:
God has never and will never leave me or forsake me. (Deuteronomy 31:6)
Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4)
God works ALL things together for my good because He loves me. (Romans 8:28)
